Our 10 Most Popular Recipes of March

French Onion Meatballs
Simply Recipes / Frank Tiu

While February was all about comforting breakfast favorites on Simply Recipes, March’s most popular recipes are decidedly springier and bouncier. I am seeing asparagus at the grocery store and in the recipes you're making, along with bright lemons and fresh salads. Spring is finally here!

Also, in case you missed it, Simply Recipes celebrated March Madness this month by creating our very own voting bracket of meatballs. Of the 16 delicious meatball recipes, our readers voted—and then cooked!—their favorite ones. Let it be known that I voted for and made the French onion meatballs. How delicious do they look?

Ready to eat through our readers' favorites? Here are the 10 recipes you made most during March.

Platter of Vegetables and a Bowl of Veggie Dip
Simply Recipes / Lori Rice

1. Homemade Veggie Dip

March Madness was on the big screen, but the real game day MVP turned out to be this homemade veggie dip. Sour cream, mayo, and a handful of fresh herbs is all you need to make this fresh and very dippable veggie magnet.

Adobo Chicken Meatballs in a Bowl Next to a Table Napkin, a Serving Spoon, and a Bowl of Rice
Simply Recipes / Coco Morante

2. Adobo Chicken Meatballs

If you think chicken meatballs are dry and boring, it's because you haven't given them the adobo treatment. These meatballs are simmered in Filipino-inspired adobo sauce—coconut, soy sauce, and little brown sugar. They're the perfect app, or winning weeknight meal when paired with white rice.

Lemon Cheesecake Bars in a Parchment Paper Lined Baking Sheet
Simply Recipes / Mark Beahm

3. Lemon Cheesecake Bars

Graham crackers, cheesecake, and lemons—three of my favorite things, all in easy-to-bake, easy-to-share, and easy-to-eat bars. This cheesecake doesn't require a water bath, which is music to my ears! Trader Joe's carries an amazing jarred lemon curd, which would be a smart shortcut to making it from scratch for the swirls on top.

French Onion Meatballs in a Pan, and in the Background, Toasted Baguette Slices on a Wooden Platter and a White Table Cloth Draped Onto It
Simply Recipes / Frank Tiu

4. French Onion Meatballs

Technically, these French onion meatballs got the most clicks from our readers during March. It may have been writer Devan Grimsrud's gorgeous Reel, or maybe a French onion soup and meatball mashup is just the freshest take on meatballs we've seen in a while. Simply put: You have to try these!

Tray of Lemon Scones with Drizzle of Lemon Glaze
Simply Recipes / Mark Beahm

5. Lemon Scones

Behold! These are the lemoniest scones in all of the land! That's because these scones are loaded with lemon zest and drizzled with a puckery lemon glaze.

Our resident baker, Mark Beahm, who developed and wrote this recipe, baked scones for a living in England, so I can safely say you are in good hands. He'll walk you step-by-step how to make the best scones ever.

Lasagna Soup in a Bowl With Noodles, Sausage, Ricotta, and Fresh Basil, and in the Surroundings, Another Bowl With Crushed Red Peppers, a Saucer With Basil Leaves, and a Blue and White Checkered Kitchen Towel
Simply Recipes / Mihaela Kozaric Sebrek

6. Lasagna Soup

Feel like lasagna, but don't have time to make lasagna? This easy lasagna soup is the weeknight wonder you've been looking for. Take all the ingredients you typically find in lasagna and lose the layer but keep the comfort—and even the cheese.

Greek Salad Dressing
Lori Rice / Simply Recipes

7. Greek Salad Dressing

Spring is here! That means fresh seasonal veggies are back in play, so I'll be making a giant batch of this bright, zippy Greek salad dressing for drizzling over romaine and tomatoes, grilled asparagus, steamed artichoke, and blanched green beans.

Plate of Jerk Turkey Meatballs with Two Habanero Peppers
Simply Recipes / Alica Ramkirpal-Senhouse

8. Jerk Turkey Meatballs

Writer Alica Ramkirpal-Senhouse's jerk turkey meatballs are inspired by her Caribbean and American heritage. She calls for jerk seasoning paste, fresh ginger, and habanero peppers for bold flavor and heat. Though you could pan fry the meatballs for more char, baking them in the oven cuts the cook time and mess.

Shrimp and Asparagus Pasta on a Plate with a Fork
Alison Bickel / Simply Recipes

9. Shrimp and Asparagus Pasta

Add this easy weeknight pasta to your dinner rotation stat because great asparagus is only available for a couple months starting now. Overcooked shrimp is the worst, so keep a close eye on the cook time and wait to add the shrimp until the pasta is done boiling.

Lemon Pepper Chicken in a Pan Garnished with Shredded Parsley and Lemon Slices
Simply Recipes / Marta Rivera Diaz

10. Lemon Pepper Chicken Breasts

Even though I don't love chicken breasts because they are easy to overcook and often dry, I can get behind them in a lemony, peppery sauce. This would be delicious served with a simple couscous and crisp romaine drizzled with the Greek salad dressing (number seven on the list!).
